The Nagpur police's crime branch has taken strong action against thieves and burglars, solving nine cases in two operations and providing relief to the citizens. In one operation, two burglars were arrested and seven cases were resolved. The city police have recently increased efforts to address rising concerns about vehicle thefts and burglaries. In a specific case, stolen cash and valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar led to a burglary investigation by Pachpaoli police, which the crime branch also pursued. Through CCTV footage analysis, crucial information about the vehicle involved in the crime was obtained, leading to the arrests of Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). The accused admitted to their role in three burglaries and four vehicle thefts, resulting in the recovery of stolen items and three vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh. It was revealed that both accused individuals are substance abusers who engage in criminal activities to support their addictions. Ramakant is also wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, crime branch unit 5 apprehended three individuals and solved two cases of vehicle thefts, with the arrest of Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) in connection to a bike theft reported at Jaripatka police station. The arrests were made with the assistance of CCTV footage and on-the-ground intelligence.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered and the bike used in the crime has been seized, with a total value of Rs1.20 lakh. Sources indicate that the majority of vehicle thefts happen in busy or market areas of the city. Additionally, most burglaries are reported on the city's outskirts, which fall under the jurisdiction of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, among others. Local residents have requested increased night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents. In turn, the police have advised citizens to notify their neighbors and respective police stations if they intend to leave the city, enabling both law enforcement and locals to keep a vigilant watch over their homes.
